Manual of Military Ballooning

Captain B. R. Ward, Royal Engineers

Edition: First Edition

Published By: Her Majesty's Stationery Office

St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1896 "Manual of Military Ballooning", written by Captain B. R. Ward of the Royal Engineers for Her Majesty's Stationery Office. Bound in navy cloth with intricate blind tooling, this hardback book contains 121 pages of text. Inside, one finds details on the history of military ballooning, the manufacture of balloons, and further theories and strategies for their application in wartime, complete with several diagrams, maps, and tables of figures. This rare book is in good to very good condition, though the boards are bumped with signs of wear, there is a signature on the free endpaper and several 1901 Royal Engineers stamps, as well as several small pencil inscrptions throughout the book and some minor foxing - given the age and rarity of this copy, much of this is more than fair. Regardless, this edition remains otherwise clean and readable, and it would make for a lovely gift for any military ballooning enthusiasts.
