This lovely 1956 first edition of "The Challenging Sky: The Life of Sir Alliot Verdon-Roe" is signed by the author, L. J. Ludovici. Housed in its original light blue dustjacket featuring a stunning illustration of aeroplanes in flight and a black and white photograph of Verdon-Roe, this hardback book is bound in dark blue cloth with gold gilt lettering to the spine. Inside, one finds 158 pages of text, supplemented with black and white photographs, detailing the life and aviation achievements of Sir Alliot Verdon-Roe. This book is in good condition - the dustjacket is slightly bumped and torn and there is some damage to the front endpaper. However, this book remains otherwise clean and readable, and in remarkable condition considering its age and rarity. "The Challenging Sky" is looking for a new home, and would make for a perfect gift for any aviation or autobiography enthusiast.
