St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1945 first edition of "Island in the Sky" by Ernest Gann. Housed in its original black dustjacket with blue ink lettering, this hardback book is bound in maroon cloth with silver gilt lettering to its spine. Inside, one finds 160 pages of text containing this tale, based on a true story, where a transport pilot and his crew must survive in the gruelling cold of the Canadian Wilderness after their plane crashes. This copy is in very good condition, with few notable imperfections other than an inscription on the front free endpaper, it is remarkably well preserved consdering its age and rarity. The original dustjacket, however, has suffered significant losses and thus can only be described as fair to good. "Island in the Sky" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any lover of an inspiring survival story based on true events.
