Housed in its original blue dustjacket featuring a stunning illustration of the wings of an aeroplane merging into bird wings, this hardback book is bound in blue cloth with a lovely silver gilt illustration of an aeroplane on the cover and silver gilt lettering to the spine. Inside, one finds 160 pages of Bert Stiles' reminiscences - a member of the American Air Force and a winner of the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross, his writing style has been described as sensitive, humorous, and lacking sentimentality. This copy, and its original dustjacket, are in excellent condition - one can hardly believe that they are from 1947. This book has been impeccably well preserved, and is now looking for a new home where these stories which "make articulate the spirit and the aspirations of American youth at its best" can be enjoyed.
