In this book, the author gives the reader a vivid account of high-speed flying and of the races, written in such a way that one seems to be going through it all oneself. The thrills of the experimental work and such horrible moments as the gradual sinking of a machine during the mooring tests, and the discovery, late on the night before the race, that one of the engines was cracking up under the strain, are of full interest to the general reader. To the more technically minded reader, the details of the machine and engine design, set out in the greatest detail, can only be describes as fascinating. This edition is bound in bright blue cloth, and is richly illustrated throughout with black and white photographs. Overall, this copy is in very good condition, with clean and bright pages throughout. The dust jacket is in good condition with some wear and tear to the edges. pp. 237.
