Edition: Second Edition
Published By: William Heinemann Ltd.
This lovely hardback 1936 second edition of "Death in the Air: The War Diary and Photographs of a Flying Corps Pilot" is housed in its original red dustjacket featuring one of the authors black and white photographs. Bound in black cloth with gold gilt lettering to the spine, this hardback book contains i-xvi and 159 pages of text, peppered with the authors own photography. This controversial book which claims to showcase original photography from the war, was later discovered to be the work of a film industry set designer and model maker whom, whilst he did serve in the war, fabricated the photographs. This copy is in very good condition, though the dustjacket as suffered significant damage and thus can only be described as fair, the book itself has been well preserved with the exception of some minor foxing throughout. "Death in the Air" is looking for a new home, and would be the perfect gift for any reader eager to delve into this fascinating account.
