St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1928 first edition of "Skyward: Man's mastery of the air as shown by the brilliant flights of America's leading air explorer. His life, his thrilling adventures, his north pole and trans-atlantic flights, together wih his plans for conquering the arctic by air" by Rear Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd. Housed in its original blue dustjacket featuring a charming illustration of an aeroplane flying over the globe, this hardback book is bound in royal blue cloth with gold gilt lettering to the cover and spine. Inside, past the map of the North Pole on the front free endpaper and the photograph of Admiral Byrd on the frontispiece, one finds i-xv and 359 pages of text peppered with contemporary black and white photographs. This copy is in good condition, though the dustjacket has suffered signifcant damage and can thus only be described as fair. Other than the faded lettering to the spine and some slight staining and bumping to the board, the interior of this book remains clean and readable. "Skyward" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation or exploration enthusiast.
