This lovely 1942 first edition thus of "A Description of the Manly Engine Reprinted from Langley Memoir on Mechanical Flight Smithsonian Contributions to Knowledge" by Samuel Pierpont Langley and Charles M. Manly is now in the possession of St Mary's Books. Bound in olive green cloth with gold gilt lettering on the cover and spine, this handsome edition contains 254 pages of text, peppered with black and white photographs, diagrams, and equations. This copy is in good condition - with only some minor stains on the cover, a small inscription and some minor foxing on the free endpaper to report, this book remains remarkably well preserved given its age and rarity. "The Manly Engine" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aeronautical engineering enthusiast or collector.
