St Mary's Books is proud to present this incredibly rare book, a rough proof copy of "McElroy of "Forty"" by F. T. Gilbert, a biography that he produced a fragment for Popular Flying Magazine in 1935, but that he never went on to publish in full. This small paperback book constitutes a "galley proof", or a small copy printed for the author to check for errors before the print run - remarkably, throughout this little book we can see the authors' markings and corrections in pen and pencil. This rare item is in very good condition - though there is some foxing on the cover, some staining from a rusted paperclip, and some loose pages, for an item this uncommon it remains an overall clean and readable copy. This rough proof copy of "McElroy of "Forty"" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any collector of ephemera related to noted aviation authors.
