St Mary's Books is proud to present this lovely early edition of "The First World Flight: Being the personal narratives of Lowell Smith, Erik Nelson, Leigh Wade, Leslie Arnold, Henry Ogden, John Harding" written by Lowell Thomas. Bound in navy cloth with gold gilt lettering to the spine, this hardback book contains i-xvii and 303 pages of text peppered with black and white photographs from this pioneering journey. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to the chronicle of the US Army Air Serivce's successful attempt to be the first to circumnavigate the world by air, through a 175 day journey undertaken by 4 aeroplanes, a narrative made up of first-hand accounts by the fliers themselves. This copy is accompanied by a world flight postcard and a Royal Aero Club invitation to a Banquet to the American Airmen. This book in very good condition - though the spine is slightly faded, there is some offsetting on the front free endpaper, an ex-libris paste down and some minor foxing to the prelims - the copy remains clean, bright and readable. "The First World Flight" is looking for a new home and would make for a perfect gift for any aviation or early travel enthusiast.
