St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1916 early edition of "Aircraft in Warfare: The Dawn of the Fourth Arm" by F. W. Lanchester, signed twice by Henry Royce of Rolls-Royce. This copy is incredibly rare, as not only did Royce seldom sign books and other documents, but this particular copy he signed twice - once on the free endpaper and once on the title page. Complete with it's partial original dark green dustjacket, this hardback book is bound in red cloth with gold gilt lettering to the spine. Inside, one finds i-xviii and 222 pages of text supplemented by diagrams and black and white photographs, detailing the contemporary state of scientific, military, and manufacturing progress in aviation. This rare book is in good condition - there is some slight staining on the cover, some fading to the spine and two Douglass Whetton College stamps on the free endpaper and title page of the book. However, the interior remains impeccably clean and readable. "Aircraft in Warfare" is looking for a new home and would make for a perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast or collector of Rolls-Royce memorabilia.
