St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1928 first edition of "The Balloon Buster: Frank Luke of Arizona" by Norman S. Hall. Bound in red cloth with a charming blind tooling engraving of aeroplanes on the cover, this hardback book contains 191 pages of text supplemented with black and white photographs highlighting Frank Luke's wartime experiences. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to the story of Lieutenant Frank Luke, America's second ace - a fearless and courageous winner of the Congressional Medal of Honour, yet an arrogant and disobedient character in life, leading up to his tragic early death at the age of 21. This copy is in very good condition. The titles on the spine are faded, there is some bumping and wearing to the spine, an inscription on the front free endpaper (by R.B. Bird - who could be the famous chemical engineer Robert Byron Bird), and Douglas Whetton Collections stamps on the front free endpaper and title page. However, the interior of the book remains remarkably clean and readable. "The Balloon Buster" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
