St Mary's Books is proud to present this c.1943 edition of "Bomber Pilot: A Squadron-Leader's Chronicle of Bombing Offensives 1939-1942" by Squadron-Leader Leonard Cheshire, and signed by a previous owner of the book and notable politician and diplomat, Sir Ronald Cross. Housed in its original dustjacket featuring an aeroplane casting a shadow on a map of Europe, this hardback book is bound in teal cloth with black ink lettering to the spine. Inside, one finds 136 pages of text, peppered with black and white photographs, supplementing this vivid and intimate chronicle of Cheshire's flights over enemy territory, as well as the day to day life of the RAF as the background of heroic action. This copy is in very good condition - though the dustjacket can only be described as good as it has suffered damage, particularly on the front top edge and the back bottom edge. The book itself, on the other hand, remains bright, clean and readable, with only a Sir Ronald Cross ex-libris paste-down on the front free endpaper to note, as well as his 1943 signature. "Bomber Pilot" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
