St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1930 first edition of "Little America: Aerial Exploration in the Antarctic The Flight to the South Pole" by Richard Evelyn Byrd. Bound in bright blue cloth with gold gilt lettering on the cover and spine, this hardback book contains i-xvi and 422 pages of text. Inside, past the stunning free endpapers with a photograph of the arctic, one finds a detailed account, peppered with further photography, of the establishment of the "Little America" base on the Ross Ice Shelf, highlighting the challenges the extreme conditions posed for the pioneers. This copy is in very good condition - though there is some minor staining and bumping on the boards and some splitting at the hinges - the interior remains clean, bright, and readable, remarkable for a copy of this age. "Little America" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation or adventure enthusiast.
