Short Bros. "G" Class Aircraft

Edition: First

Published By: Short Brothers

St Mary's Books is proud to present this incredibly rare "Short Bros. "G" Class Aircraft", covering the internal mechanisms, design, engineering and upkeep of the Short S.26 "G-Class". The Short S.26 "G-Class" was a flying boat commissioned by Imperial Airways and the Air Ministry and intended to achieve non-stop transatlantic capability. Only three were ever produced: the Golden Fleece, the Golden Hind, and the Golden Horn. The aircraft were then only briefly operated by Imperial Airways before being seized by the Air Ministry due to the outbreak of the Second World War, and impressed into military service. This item appears to be an original Short Brothers internal company document from around 1941 containing detailed information about the aircraft, supplemented by hand-drawn fold-out diagrams, graphs, and pen inscribed amendments - perhaps to aid the military in their operation of the vehicles. Bound in navy leather with gold gilt lettering on the cover, this hardback book is in very good condition considering its age and rarity. Though the gilt has worn off the titles, and though the boards are slightly bumped, and some of the internal pages are slightly stained - this rare item remains largely clean and readable. "Short Bros. "G" Class Aircraft" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
