This scarce first edition of "Wings Over America" is bound in black cloth with gilt lettering and design on the front cover and the spine. It tells of the thrilling flights in the first experimental planes, of the old crates mad flying Jennies of the First World War, of the early barnstorming days of reckless pilots who put their necks on the line to make America air conscious. There is also the magnificent account of how American commercial airlines were established and nurtured, of the the globe-girdling Clipper ships of Pan American Airways, of the birth and growth of U.S. Army and Naval aviation, of the first mail planes. The last pages are illustrated with many black and white photographs. Included is an original marketing pamphlet, which is illustrated with black and white photographs, and red design. Overall, the book is in very good condition, with clean and bright pages throughout. There is only some slight rubbing to the cover and its extremities. pp. 333 + many pages of photographs. "Wings Over America" is part of the extensive aviation collection that has recently become available at St Mary's Books.
