Edition: Second Edition
Published By: Methuen & Co. Ltd.
St Mary's Books is proud to present this c. 1915 second edition of "My Life" by Sir Hiram Maxim, accompanied by his 1894 "Illustrated Interview" by J. Bucknall Smith and his c.1900 text, "A New Flying Machine. Maxim's Experiments in Aerial Navigation". Bound in red cloth with blind tooled lettering and a gold gilt "Ferndale Secondary School" crest on the cover, this hardback book contains i-x and 322 pages of text. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to Hiram Maxim's account of his own life, from a childhood spent in the backwoods of Maine, to becoming a renowned inventor and British citizen, all supplemented by stunning black and white photographs. This text is accompanied by two other works concerning Maxim - his circa 1894 "Illustrated Interview" with J. Bucknall Smith and his circa 1900 "A New Flying Machine. Maxim's Experiments in Aerial Navigation" - both of which are unbound and loose. This copy remains in good condition - though there is an inscription on the front free endpaper, some minor foxing throughout, some bumps to the edges and sun damage to the cloth boards and spine, as well as some splitting at the hinges - the copy nevertheless remains bright and readable. "My Life" is looking for a new home, and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
