St Mary's Books is proud to present this lovely 1934 first edition of "Amateur Adventure: The Story of a Record Flight to Madras" by K. C. Gandar Dower. Housed in its original pictorial dustjacket featuring a stunning black and white aerial photograph, this hardback book is bound in blue cloth with pink ink lettering to its spine. Inside, one finds i-xvii and 238 pages of text, peppered with further stunning black and white travel photographs. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to the humour and beauty of the author's solo flight to India, embarking with little previous experience, he recounts the story without "dull technicalities", instead portraying his amateur flight "as the light-hearted adventure that it was". This copy is in very good condition. Though the original dustjacket has suffered some bumps and tears and thus can only be described as good, the book itself remains remarkably well preserved, with only a small inscription to the front free endpaper to note. "Amateur Adventure" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
