St Mary's Books is proud to present this circa 1917 two volume set of "Patent Abstracts: Aeronautics" produced by Patent Agents Rayner & Co., with volume one signed by C. G. Grey, the founding editor of "The Aeroplane". Bound in maroon cloth with gold gilt lettering to the cover and spine, these hardback books contain detailed information and diagrams concerning both void and active aeronautical patents from the years 1889 to 1915 with all information being correct in the year 1917. Within the pages of these books, the reader gains a sense of the trails and experiments of various inventors in their continued attempts to create a flying machine throughout this era of early aviation. These volumes are in good to very good condition - the cloth on the boards of the first volume is slightly more worn, it has more bumping to its edges, more splitting to the hinges, and more pencil inscriptions from a previous author. The second volume, on the other hand, can be described as very good, with fewer notable imperfections. "Patent Abstracts: Aeronautics" are looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast. Vol. 1: i-v, 1-720pp., Vol. 2: 226-784pp.
