Amelia Earhart: Heroine of the Skies

Shannon Garst

Edition: First Edition

Illustrated By: Joseph Dreany

Published By: Julian Messner, Inc.

St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1947 First Edition of "Amelia Earhart: Heroine of the Skies" by Shannon Garst with illustrations by Joseph Dreany. Bound in beige cloth with red ink lettering on the cover and spine, this hardback book contains i-xiii and 191 pages of text peppered with Dreany's charming black ink illustrations. Within the pages of this book, past the illustrated free endpapers depicting an aeroplane soaring through the clouds in red ink, the reader is treated to an account of Amelia Earhart's inspiring journey, from her childhood to her career as a pioneering, record-setting aviator culminating in her fame as the first woman to fly the Atlantic and her final, fatal, 1937 flight in an era that was hostile to the idea of a woman in the public eye, let alone soaring through the sky. This copy is in very good condition - though there is some slight staining on the cover, the interior remains remarkably bright, clean and readable. "Amelia Earhart: Heroine of the Skies" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
