This lovely hardback 1918 First Edition of "Above the Battle" by Vivian Drake is bound in burgundy cloth with gold gilt lettering and an RFC insignia. Inside, one finds i-vii and 323 pages of text, providing a fascinating account of a young Flying Officers journey from fresh recruit to seasoned pilot. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to intimate insight into the RFC's Officer training in the early days of wartime flight. This copy is in good condition - the edges of the boards have been bumped, there is some splitting at the hinges, an inscription on te front free endpaper, and some very minor foxing throughout the book. However, this copy remains well-preserved for a book of this age and rarity. "Above the Battle" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
