St Mary's Books is proud to present "Air Marshal Sir Thomas Elmhirst KBE, CB, AFC 1895-1982: Recollections" signed by his son, Roger Elmhirst, who compiled his fathers' selected works and privately published this book. Bound in blue cloth with silver gilt lettering on the cover and spine, this hardback book contains i-viii and 195 pages of text, peppered with contemporary black and white photographs. Within the pages of this text, the reader is treated to the recollections of a fascinating man - drafted to the Royal Naval Air Service in 1915 he rose to become second-in-command of British Air Forces in North West Europe in the Second World War, serving in D-Day, Normandy, the Ardennes, and the advance across France and Germany - he later became Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (intelligence) in 1945 before becoming Commander in Chief of the Royal Indian Air Force in 1947. These incredible recollections are in very good condition, as this rare item has been very well preserved and appears virtually unread. "Air Marshal Sir Thomas Elmhirst: Recollections" is looking for a new home and would make for a perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
