St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1980 reprint of "The Flying Guns: Cockpit Record of a Naval Pilot from Pearl Harbour through Midway" by Clarence E. Dickinson. Housed in its original pictorial dustjacket designed by Dick Richardson featuring two aeroplanes fighting over the ocean, this hardback book is bound in bright red cloth with navy ink lettering on the cover and spine. Inside, past the free endpapers decorated with a map of the Pacific Ocean, one finds i-viii and 196 pages of text supplemented by black and white contemporary war photography. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to the remarkable first person narrative of the attack on Pearl Habour from the perspective of the aviator, Clarence E. Dickinson, who, despite being shot down still managed to reach Pearl Harbour whilst the Japanese attackw as occuring. This book, and its original dustjacket are in very good condition - despite a few minor bumps to the dustjacket and the fact that pages 195 and 196 are stuck together in this copy in a printing error - the interior pages nevertheless remain bright, clean and readable. "The Flying Guns" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
