St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1927 first edition of "The Great Delusion: A Study of Aircraft in Peace and War" by "Neon" or Marion W. Acworth, complete with correspondence from members of the National Liberal Organization discussing their love of the book, as well as a letter addressed to the author. Bound in black cloth with gold gilt lettering to the spine, this hardback book contains i-xxxix and 288 pages of text. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to the compelling yet controversial arguments put forward by the author, who argues that aircraft defied the physical limitations of nature, were ineffective in important military strategic situations, and were not commercially viable as passenger or freight carriers. This fascinating text which acted as a major piece of counter-propaganda to the newly forming RAF, is accompanied by supportive correspondence from the National Liberal Organisation, a letter addressed to the author (whose identity was concealed at the time), and a small note dismissing the project. This copy is in very good condition, with few notable blemishes other than some minor bumping to the corners and a small inscription to the front free endpaper. "The Great Delusion" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
