St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1967 first edition of "How it works: The Aeroplane. A Ladybird Book", a copy that is believed to have once been in the possession of Sir Douglas Bader, as it is accompanied by a note from the Headmaster at Bromsgrove School, dedicating a prize to Bader in 1952. Due to the discrepancies in dates, this prize may not have been this book itself, but this particular book, which has numerous unidentified signatures on its front free endpapers, may still have formed part of Douglas Baders' collection. This hardback book, written by David Carey with illustrations by G. Robinson, has a pictorial board with a stunning full-colour illustration depicting of an aeroplane on the runway. Inside, one finds 52 pages of text, peppered with similar full-colour illustrations and diagrams. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to an accessible lesson in aerodynamics. "How it works: The Aeroplane. A Ladybird Book." connected to the famous pilot Sir Douglas Bader, is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
