Living in Calcutta, India, with his family at the outbreak of war, he returned to the UK to enlist in the Royal Flying Corps where he served out the duration of the war as a free balloon pilot and instructor. This copy is in good to very good condition - though the original dustjacket has suffered some significant losses and thus can only be described as fair to good, the book itself remains well preserved. Other than some minor fading to the cloth boards, and some very minor foxing throughout, this copy remains bright, clean and readable. "Lighter than Air" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
