St Mary's Books are proud to present this 1883 edition of "Im Ballon!" published and edited by Victor Silberer. Bound in brown cloth with gold gilt lettering and a black ink illustration of aviators ballooning, this hardback book has red all-edge staining. Inside, one finds i-v and 324 pages of text, peppered with whimsical diagrams and illustrations, and followed by 6 pages of advertisements to the back of the book. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to a description of the Viennese Balloon, the "Vindobona", a description of notable contemporary flights and ascensions, and a list of flights where human lives have been lost. This copy is in good condition - the cloth on the spine and the covers is lightly faded, the spine is weak and the pages are slightly yellowed - however, the text remains bright, clean and readable, and the copy is well-preserved overall considering its age and rarity. "Im Ballon!" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation collector.
