Air Publication 1598A (AP1598A) is the official Royal Air Force's Handbook for Bomber Command, published by the British Air Ministry, July 1937. It served as an essential operational manual issued during the RAF's pre-WWII expansion period to standardise flight procedures, navigation, and emergency protocols across the newly established Bomber Command, formed in July 1936. Inside there are sunrise and sunset tables, table for finding error in the track, flashing beacons and international signals of distress, illustrated by several sections of map. This copy is bound in leather with ring binding. The leather is worn and creased, consistent with use. The pages are clean, despite discolouration to the last page. There are several thick acetate sheets to the rear. Issued in July 1937, this manual offers a snapshot of RAF tactical doctrine just prior to World War II. A fascinating copy, and part of a huge aviation collection just acquired by St Marys Books.
