Edition: Manuscript Copy
Published By: Privately Printed
An exceptional and historically significant complete manuscript of Captain Joseph Morris’s official history of German air attacks on Britain during the First World War. Comprising two parts—Zeppelin campaigns (167 pp.) and Gotha/Giant bomber raids (46 pp.)—this fully intact draft bears the author’s signature and official Air Historical Branch address on the cover. Richly detailed and evidently a working copy, the manuscript contains contemporary analysis of early aerial warfare, including Britain’s improvised defences, inter-service rivalries, and the transition from airship raids to heavy bomber operations. Notable episodes include the destruction of Zeppelin L.53 by Lt. S.D. Culley. A rare survival outside institutional archives, combining authorial signature, official provenance, and complete manuscript form. An outstanding artefact of early RAF historiography and First World War scholarship.Part of St Mary's Books Large Aviation library. This example housed in original card covers with hand written authors name to the top with Capt. J Morris signed by hand possibly the authors hand, and the title of the book in the middle of the cover.
