The Observer's Book of Airplanes (First Edition)

Joseph Lawrence

Edition: First Edition

Published By: Frederick Warne & Co. Ltd.

St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1942 first edition of "The Observer's Book of Airplanes" by Joseph Lawrence, forming part of the Observer's Pocket Series. This book, published during the Second World War, provides a simple guide to identifying both allied and axis aircraft, supplemented by diagrams and photographs from the publishers of "Flight" magazine. Housed in its original white dustjacket decorated with blue ink lettering and blue and red ink decorations, this dustjacket heavily features a black and white photograph of a contemporary airplane. Bound in light blue cloth with navy ink lettering to the cover and spine, this hardback book contains 191 pages of text. This copy is in very good condition - though the dustjacket can only be described as fair to good as it is slightly stained, the corners are bumped, and it has suffered some tears and losses along its top edge. The book itself remains in very good condition. Though there is a slight lean to the spine, the interior is bright, clean and readable, remarkable given the age and rarity of this copy. "The Observer's Book of Airplanes" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
