St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1927 first edition of "The World's Wings" signed by the author, W. Jefferson Davis, and dedicated to his good friend, General Brancker. Published just two months after the "Lindbergh Boom" or the global aviation fever following Charles Lindbergh's successful trans-atlantic solo flight, this book was published just two months later, capitalising on the sudden global interest, and here dedicated to one of Britain's chief aviation architects in a celebratory gesture at the peak of the Golden Age of Flight. This copy is bound in quarter black cloth with bright orange boards and an orange paper title band with black ink text to the spine. Inside, one finds i-xvii and 210 pages of text peppered with black and white photographs, detailing the progress many other nations had made in aviation, leaving the US in the position, "comparatively speaking, we are laggards", in the hopes of igniting pressure in the US to catch up. This copy is in very good condition - though the orange paper title band has faded and there is some bumping to the corners, the interior remains remarkably bright, clean and readable. "The World's Wings" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
