Inside, one finds 332 pages of text, detailing the fascinating tale of Jean Paget, an Englishwoman who became romantically interested in a fellow prisoner of war in WW2 Malaya, and who seeks to be reuinted with him upon liberation by using her considerable fortune to build an Australian town much like Alice Springs, the settlement he grew up in. This copy is in very good condition - the original dustjacket remains well-preserved, with only some minor bumps and scuffs along its edges, and the interior of the book remains bright, clean and readable save for the half-title page, which is yellowed and foxed. "A town like Alice" is looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any literature lover.
