St Mary's Books is proud to present this June 1959 first edition first impression of "Fly and be Damned" by Oliver Moxon. Housed in its original pictorial dustjacket featuring a full-colour illustration of a couple embracing by an aeroplane, this hardback book is bound in light blue cloth with gold gilt lettering to the spine. Inside, one finds 192 pages of text, detailing the fascinating story of Tim Blaydon, once an ace fighter pilot, who refuses to accept the insult of an "office boy's wage", and so buys a small aircraft, and though intending to complete legitimate missions, "he soon finds himself inextricably tangled in a mesh of crookery". This copy is in very good condition - though the original dustjacket has suffered some bumping and scuffing along its edges, there is an inscription on the front free endpaper, and some very minor foxing throughout - the copy remains well-preserved given its age and rarity. "Fly and be Damned" is looking for a new home and would make for a lovely gift for any aviation enthusiast.
