The Papers of Wilbur and Orville Wright (Signed)

Wilbur and Orville Wright

Edition: First Edition

Published By: The McGraw-Hill Book Company Inc.

St Mary's Books is proud to present this 1953 first edition of "The Papers of Wilbur and Orville Wright" edited by Marvin W. McFarland and signed by Charles Gibbs-Smith, aviation historian. Housed in a black slipcase, this hardback two volume set is bound in quarter black cloth, with grey cloth boards and gold gilt lettering to the spine. Volume Two is housed in its original light blue dustjacket, featuring black and white ink lettering and an image of a bust of the Wright Brothers. Within the pages of this book, the reader is treated to a collection of papers and personal documents, fulfilling the Wright Brothers' desire to give the world "a full unvarnished account of their work". This set contains Volume One (1899-1905): i-lv and 1-671pp., and Volume Two (1906-1948): i-xxvii and 678-1278 pp.. This set is in very good condition - though the slipcase has suffered some bumping and some wear to the corners and edges, and the original dustjacket on volume two has suffered significant damage, the books remain well preserved. A previous reader has added some red pen ink annotations to both volumes, but the set otherwise remains bright, clean and readable. "The Papers of Wilbur and Orville Wright" are looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
