Handwritten WW1 Engine Notes

2nd A/dl Scott No. 48088

Illustrated By: 2nd A/dl Scott No. 48088

Publication Date: c.1917-1918

St Mary's Books are incredibly proud to present this fascinating slice of history, handwritten engine notes produced by A/dl Scott No. 48088, whilst he was training with the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War. Bound with buckram boards, this softcover book contains 73 pages of handwritten pencil notes and diagrams the soldier made throughout his training. Judging by the inclusion of the Siddley Puma 6 Cylinder Engine and the Liberty 12 Cylinder Engine, St Mary's Books dates this item at around 1917-1918, though with the inclusion of much earlier engines such as the Le Clerget 80HP, it is possible the author began his notes earlier in the war. Within the pages of this book, the reader finds notes on the following aero engines - Le Clerget 80HP 7 Cylinder Rotary Engine, Renault 70HP 8 Cylinder V Type Stationary Engine, Gnome 80 HP 7 Cylinder Rotary Engine, R.A.F. 90 and 140HP 8 and 12 Cylinder V Type Stationary Engines, Monosoupape 100 HP 9 Cylinder Rotary Engine, Rolls Royce 360 HP 12 Cylinder V Type Stationary Engine, A.B.C. Dragon Fly 9 Cylinder Radial Engine, Siddley Puma 6 Cylinder Vertica Stationary Engine, and the Liberty 12 Cylinder V Type Stationary Engine. This copy is in fair condition - the covers have been bumped and damaged, the interior pages have yellowed, and the spine is weak, as the copy remains in its original binding. This set of handwritten engine notes are looking for a new home and would make for the perfect gift for any aviation enthusiast.
