St Mary's Books is proud to present Jacqueline Walker's self published 1939 work Equator South Equator North - an account of the author's experiences travelling on Pan American Airways prior to the outbreak of WWII, documenting the fascinating world of early commercial aviation. We are lucky enough to hold a very special edition of Walker's book, as it is signed by the author herself; Walker's signature is just beneath the ackniwledgements, in blue ink. It is bound in bright blue cloth with silver lettering on the front cover and spine for the title, author's name and for a symbol of a plane's propellors acting as the needles of a compass. The author has included several of her own photographs, all of which are absolutely beautiful and provide the reader with some visual guidance. There is only some light bumping to the edges of the spine. This copy does come in its original dust jacket, which is printed with an illustration of a 1930s era commercial plane flying through a mountain range. The dust jacket is considerably worn, with scuffing and small tears on the edges and tape at the top of the spine; some pages within the book also have spots of discolouration. This is truly a unique book, a fabulous collector's item and it would be suited to anyone interested in commercial aviation and its history. pp.207.
